About Me

I am a seasoned media and communications expert, journalist and entrepreneur, with more than 25 years of technical experience in international and local media as a foreign news correspondent, journalist, news producer and director, media consultant and project manager. As a former freelance news correspondent for NOTICIERO UNIVISION in Managua-Nicaragua, I reported (bilingually) in Spanish and English on the serious political and human rights crisis in the country that has aggravated since April 2018.
Previously, I co-founded Huellas de Impunidad with Nicaraguan colleagues, a digital platform where data journalism is used to highlight Nicaragua's systematic human rights abuses through long-form special reports.
Throughout my career, I have also worked as a media project manager, leading projects for both international and local non-profit organizations, where we provided professional training in areas such as video production and data journalism to journalists.

In 2004, I resigned from the position of news director of the leading television station with the largest TV news team in Nicaragua, to create my own production company and launch a new project of documentaries and in-depth interviews called "Vidas y Confesiones" (Lives and Confessions). A documentary on the cosmovision of an indigenous Mayagna community was awarded by the United Nations in Nicaragua and the Chamorro Foundation with the Pedro Joaquin Chamorro Prize for Journalistic Excellence.

Forced to leave Nicaragua, my career has been resilient in the USA, where I
I worked as a national news desk editor and producer at NBCUniversal-TELEMUNDO, based in Miami, Florida.
